ASC is Australia's submarine company. ASC built the Royal Australian Navy's Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats' service lives. They have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation's nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia's history.

ASC is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join their Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing for their Australian-based workforce.

About the role:

Reporting to the Payroll Team Lead, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of fortnightly payroll for our Australian-based employees.

This includes managing statutory payments such as WorkCover, Payroll Tax and Superannuation, resolving complex payroll queries, and ensuring compliance with Enterprise Agreement requirements and relevant legislation.

You'll work closely with HR, Finance and other departments, providing a high level of customer service and payroll-related guidance to key stakeholders across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

- Processing fortnightly pay runs, timecards and terminations
- Managing statutory obligations including PAYG, STP lodgements, payroll tax and superannuation
- Delivering accurate reporting for monthly and annual accounting requirements




- Maintaining payroll system integrity and accurate employee records
- Supporting internal and external audits as required
- Staying abreast of legislative changes and industry trends

About you:

- At least 2 years' experience in high-volume payroll within a large, complex environment
- Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, awards and EBAs
- Experience with Chris21 payroll systems strongly desired
- Confident using MS Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting
- Highly resilient, with the flexibility to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to build solid working relationships across the business
- Confident communicator with a range of stakeholders
- Well organised and methodical, with a proactive approach to resolving issues
- This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
