City of Darwin is a capital city with big ambitions, our Darwin 2030 Strategic Plan sets out our vision to be a City for People and a City of Colour, and we're looking for a Contract Management Officer to help us deliver on it through smart, compliant and well-run contracts.
About the role
This is a hands-on role at the heart of how our Operations team gets things done. You'll take ownership of procurement and contract management activities for goods and services across the Operations Program, while also being a trusted source of advice for team members running their own contracts and procurement processes.
Day to day, you'll be involved in everything from drafting requests for quote and tender specifications, through to setting KPIs, monitoring contractor performance, managing variations and renewals, and supporting evaluation panels and dispute resolution. You'll help keep our forward procurement plan and contract registers accurate, contribute to continuous improvement of our contract management systems, and make sure everything we do stacks up against legislation, policy and probity requirements.
It's a role that suits someone who's equally comfortable interpreting the fine print of a contract and building genuine working relationships with contractors and colleagues alike.
What you’ll bring
- A Bachelor's degree in contract law, procurement or a related field.
- At least five years’ experience in contract management and procurement, ideally within the public sector.
- Solid knowledge of relevant legislation (such as the Local Government Act and procurement regulations) and public sector purchasing frameworks.
- Sharp attention to detail and confidence interpreting contract terms and legal documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate.
- Good computer literacy across Microsoft Office and finance/procurement systems.
- A current National Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain one).
- A current C Class Driver Licence.
- A General Construction Industry White Card, or the ability to obtain one.
Experience in local government, or exposure to an operational, maintenance or construction-related environment, will be highly regarded but isn't essential.
Why City of Darwin?
Join us and you'll be part of a team shaping the infrastructure, services and liveability of Australia's most tropical capital city.
Your hard work will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package and
- 6 weeks annual leave
- 15 days of personal leave
- $100,064 - $106,536 per annum base salary
- 12% superannuation
