We are seeking a hands‑on Lead Data Engineer to lead the delivery of a large‑scale Azure data platform within a major financial services environment.

n

This role combines technical leadership, people management and stakeholder engagement. You will manage and mentor Data Engineers while remaining involved in architecture, coding standards, design reviews and complex technical decisions.

Key responsibilitiesn

- Lead, mentor and develop a Data Engineering team
n
- Own the design and delivery of enterprise data platforms
n
- Build scalable pipelines, data models, warehouses and lakehouse solutions
n
- Manage stakeholders across business and technology teams
n
- Drive engineering standards across coding, CI/CD, governance and performance
n
- Ensure platforms are secure, reliable and cost‑efficient
n

Key experiencen n




- Strong Data Engineering leadership and team management experience
n
- Hands‑on expertise in SQL, Python and PySpark
n
- Strong Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse experience
n
- Experience with Azure Databricks, ADLS and Delta Lake
n
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric
n
- Strong data modelling and data warehousing knowledge
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
n

n

Experience in financial services, Azure certifications, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, APIs, Azure Functions, Docker or Kubernetes would be advantageous.

n

This is a permanent prospect offering $180,000 base plus super, working onsite within a major Melbourne organisation.
