TerryWhite Chemmart Palmerston is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intern Pharmacist to join our friendly and skilled pharmacy team on a full-time basis, commencing in 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy graduate looking to undertake their pharmacist internship in a busy, well-established community pharmacy, with structured training, experienced pharmacist and preceptor support, and genuine hands-on experience across all aspects of community pharmacy practice.

Salary: $79,423 per annum + superannuation

About the Role

As an Intern Pharmacist, you will work under the supervision of experienced pharmacists while developing the clinical, professional and operational skills required to progress towards general pharmacist registration.

You will gain practical experience across prescription dispensing, patient counselling, dispensary operations, professional services and TerryWhite Chemmart Care Clinic services, while developing your knowledge and confidence in the safe and effective use of medicines.

You will be supported to complete your Intern Training Program and relevant examinations, with structured training, professional development and regular preceptor meetings throughout your internship.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and dispense prescriptions efficiently and accurately under pharmacist supervision

Provide evidence-based counselling on prescription and over-the-counter medicines within your scope of practice

Deliver a high standard of customer service and ensure patients feel welcomed, valued and supported

Make appropriate referrals to the pharmacist where required

Participate in and promote TerryWhite Chemmart Care Clinic services

Support dispensary operations, including stock management, ordering and dispensary compliance





Assist with Dose Administration Aids where applicable

Participate in staged supply and/or opioid substitution programs under pharmacist supervision

Perform simple extemporaneous compounding under pharmacist supervision where required

Maintain appropriate dispensary processes and professional, legislative and QCPP standards

Build positive working relationships with local doctors, allied health professionals and other healthcare providers

Complete your Intern Training Program, required examinations and professional development activities within the agreed timeframe

Contribute positively to the pharmacy team and support junior team members and pharmacy students where appropriate

These responsibilities reflect the practical and professional scope of the Intern Pharmacist position, including dispensing, Care Clinic services, DAAs, compliance, compounding and staged supply services.

About You

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing their career in community pharmacy and is willing to take an active role in their professional development.

To be considered for this position, you will have:

A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent)

Current provisional registration as a pharmacist with AHPRA, or eligibility to obtain provisional registration prior to commencement

Enrolment, or eligibility to enrol, in an approved Intern Training Program

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Good attention to detail and computer literacy

A genuine interest in community pharmacy and patient care

A willingness to learn,

The ability to work effectively as part of a busy and diverse pharmacy team
