The Project:
Hexagon have partnered with our mining client to develop an autonomous haulage solution for a will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port. The solution, which includes drive-by-wire technology and an autonomous management system, is a truck-agnostic, full-site solution designed to streamline vehicle movement in road-train haulage.
Responsibilities
The Position:
Reporting to the Autonomous Technology Engineering Supervisor, this role will support the deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of world-first autonomous haulage technology while rotating across multiple technical disciplines within our Autonomous Technology Engineering team.
This position will rotate across teams involved across the development and deployment stages of the project and product development, providing you opportunity to gain valuable and diverse hands on experience in large scale greenfield technology projects.
This opportunity is a Fixed Term 2yr assignment Fly in Fly Out on a 8:6 roster to Onslow, point of hire Perth, Western Australia.
AsAutonomous Specialistyou will be responsible for these activities:
- Support the installation, commissioning, operation, and continuous improvement of Hexagon's onboard autonomous technology across autonomous and driven vehicle fleets.
- Assist with data analysis activities to improve system performance, reliability, and operational outcomes.
- Support commissioning and optimization of server and network infrastructure used for autonomous operations.
- Implement and maintain security measures that protect systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.
- Operate and monitor autonomous road trains throughout all stages of the haulage process, including loading, travelling, tipping, refuelling, and marshalling.
- Support route optimization activities to improve operational efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize road wear.
- Provide real-time monitoring, tracking, reporting, and operational support for autonomous haulage activities.

Qualifications
About you
We are looking for a recent graduates, early career or general engineering professionals who are passionate about the advancement of autonomy in large scale mining operations. This opportunity will offer you to work hands on across a unique integrated autonomous solution combing multi system software and hardware infrastructure
In addition, we are seeking those with the following skills or attributes.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline including Mechatronics, Electrical, Technology, Engineering,
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to understand and interpret technical data.
- Able to work in a new technology project, understanding of test, validation and verification stages of technology development
- Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Passionate about problem solving and troubleshooting in new environments
- Ability to work a fly-in, fly-out roster
- Proven success in collaborating in a customer centric, solution focused engagement
- Valid Australian working rights: Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen
