The Oodie
Melbourne
Back in 2018, The Oodie had one big idea: reinvent comfort and make people ridiculously happy. The Oodie took the world by storm, and today we are a proudly Australian ecommerce brand spanning sleepwear, outdoor, blankets, pet products and iconic collaborations.
We are a cosy crew with big ambitions, no egos and plenty of ideas. We collaborate face to face, think like entrepreneurs, own what we do and give a sh*t about creating things our customers love.
We're looking for an Operations Manager to own the end-to-end distribution experience for The Oodie....from inbound freight through to warehousing and last mile delivery. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how ecommerce fulfilment actually works and thrives on making it run better: faster, cheaper, and more reliably, without ever losing sight of the customer at the end of the chain.
Our freight, warehousing, and last mile operations are run by third-party partners, so this role is as much about people and relationships as it is about process. You'll be the connective tissue between our 3PL and freight forwarding partners and our internal team, holding partners to account on service and cost while building the kind of relationships that get problems solved rapid when things inevitably go sideways.
What You’ll Do
Partner & Relationship Management
Own the day-to-day relationship with our 3PL warehouse partners and freight forwarders across our regions, ensuring high service levels are consistently met.
Run regular business reviews with suppliers, holding them accountable to agreed KPIs and SLAs.
Be the escalation point when things go wrong - and they will - with a calm, solutions-first approach.
Operational Excellence
Bring a solid understanding of how warehouses operate and the mechanics of freight forwarding, even though these functions are outsourced, you need to know enough to ask the right questions, spot risk early, and hold partners to a high standard.
Support short and long-term capacity planning to keep pace with peak trading and growth.
Contribute to process standardisation and SOPs that improve consistency across regions.
Identify and implement initiatives that reduce cost and remove waste from the network.
Reporting & Cost
Maintain visibility over warehousing, freight, and last mile costs against budget.
Own daily, weekly, and monthly reporting cycles across freight, warehouse, and last mile operations.
Track and report against key metrics for service and cost.
Team
Lead and develop an in-house operations team, building a high-performing group with a positive, ownership-driven culture.
Support the growth of your team members through regular feedback and development planning.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
Strong ecommerce experience, ideally with consumer products / DTC brands.
Proven experience managing 3PL warehouse partners, you know what good looks like and how to hold a partner accountable.
Solid working knowledge of how warehouses run and how freight forwarding works, even if you haven't operated these functions in-house.
Experience leading and developing a team.
A commercial mindset: comfortable owning budgets, costs, and KPIs.
Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system.
Experience with Shopify or a similar ecommerce platform.
Above all, we’re hiring for culture fit. We'd rather find someone who embodies how we work and grow the skills than the other way around.
Our Values
Give a sh*t - we care about the work we do, and the people we do it for.
Own Your Business - treat your work like it's your own business.
Open the door for others - we take initiative, we share and support each other.
Say How It Is, Respectfully - truth, honesty and transparency in everything we do; straight talk is actively encouraged.
Do Cool Things that Make Customers Happy - we bring joy in what we do.
Working at The Oodie looks like:
- Customer love at the centre of what we do - if you care about the customer you'd fit right in!
- Ownership and accountability, with people who give a sh*t
- A close knit, collaborative culture with no room for egos
- Office first flexibility, where we value being together and still enjoy a day or two at home
- Learning and development throughout the year
- Team discounts to keep you cosy
- Davie’s Dreamball, with chances to win cash at key milestones
- Our values in action every day, not just words on a wall
It all started with the wearable blanket – now we are on a mission to make the most snuggly, cuddly, softer-than-soft comfort wear in the world.
