AbilitiesNQ is entering its next phase of growth, and we are looking for an experienced General Manager to help shape what comes next. Reporting directly to the Board and Directors, you will lead our Senior Management Team and have organisation wide influence across operations, financial and commercial performance, people, compliance and business growth. This is a hands-on executive leadership role for someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution, understanding the numbers, supporting strong leaders, making sound commercial decisions and ensuring growth remains sustainable, compliant and grounded in quality service delivery.

The Opportunity

You will work closely with the Board, Directors and Senior Management Team to turn strategy into action and drive strong performance across the organisation. Key areas of focus will include:

Lead the Senior Management Team and translate organisational strategy into clear priorities and coordinated action.

Drive strong operational and financial performance across the organisation.

Work closely with Finance to understand budgets, forecasts, EBITDA, margins, labour costs and key commercial drivers, and turn the numbers into action.

Use operational and financial insights to improve performance, resource allocation and organisational decision making.

Identify, assess and lead sustainable business growth and service expansion opportunities.

Strengthen collaboration and performance across operational and corporate functions.

Maintain executive oversight of material operational, compliance, WHS, workforce, financial and organisational risks.

Provide the Board and Directors with clear, timely insight into organisational performance, emerging risks and opportunities.

What You will Bring





We are looking for an experienced senior leader who combines strong people leadership with commercial judgement and the ability to operate confidently in a complex, regulated environment. You will bring:

Substantial senior leadership experience in a complex organisation, with responsibility for multi-service or organisation wide performance.

Solid financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to interpret financial statements, budgets, forecasts, margins and key business performance indicators.

A demonstrated ability to lead senior managers, build effective leadership teams and translate strategy into measurable outcomes.

Sound commercial judgement and the confidence to make decisions that balance financial sustainability, service quality, compliance and organisational risk.

Strong relationship-building, communication and management skills, with the ability to build trusted and effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.

Experience in Disability, Child Safety, community services or another regulated service environment will be highly regarded.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, management, finance, community services or a related discipline are desirable.
