Middle & Senior School Music Teacher

Pulteney Grammar School is seeking an enthusiastic and accomplished Music Teacher to join our Performing Arts team in 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to creating engaging and meaningful musical experiences for students across the Middle and Senior Schools. The successful candidate will contribute to both the curricular and co-curricular life of the School, inspiring students to develop their confidence, creativity and love of music.

About the role

Working as part of our team-oriented Performing Arts team, the successful candidate will:

Teach Music across the Middle and Senior Schools, predominantly Years 7–10.

Deliver engaging general and experiential Music programs incorporating theoretical, practical and creative learning.

Contribute to the School’s instrumental, choral and co-curricular ensemble programs.

Direct and support ensembles, rehearsals and performances.

Use technology effectively to support music teaching, learning and creation.

Build positive and supportive relationships with students,



colleagues and families.

Contribute to the broader life, values and culture of Pulteney Grammar School.

Experience teaching SACE Stage 1 and 2 Music, including Solo and Ensemble Performance and Music Explorations, would be highly regarded. Experience directing choral ensembles and knowledge of Kodály methodology would also be advantageous.

About you

We are looking for an educator who is passionate about Music and student learning, and who brings warmth, professionalism and energy to their teaching.

You will ideally have:

Tertiary qualifications in Secondary Music Teaching, or an appropriate equivalent qualification.

Current Teacher Registration in South Australia.

A current Working With Children Check and required child safety certification.

Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect certification.

Strong classroom teaching and behaviour management skills.

Experience working collaboratively within a Performing Arts team.

The ability to engage and inspire students across a range of abilities.

A student-centred approach and a genuine commitment to creating positive performance experiences.

A minimum of three years’ demonstrated classroom teaching experience is desirable.
