Work Health & Safety Officer – Culture & Wellbeing Team

Are you a WHS graduate (or nearly there) who wants real hands-on experience, not just theory?

This is where you get it: hazard management, incident investigation and safety training, all inside a community services organisation that values and appreciates its people.

We are HART:

We are profit-for-purpose, which means every dollar we make goes back into the Northern Rivers, not shareholders. We assist people meet the challenges of ageing, transport and isolation, through our personalised services and connecting community. We do this because this community is our community too.

The Role:

You will work as part of HART’s Culture & Wellbeing team, based in our Lismore office and reporting to the Chief People Officer. This is an entry-level, WHS role with real room to grow. It is well suited to a recent WHS graduate, or someone early in their WHS career, and you will be supported and mentored as you build your skills.

Some of your day-to-day duties will include:

- Hazard identification, risk assessments and the implementation of risk controls across HART sites and activities

- Overseeing HART’s incident, hazard and injury register, investigation and follow up procedures

- Lead and coordinate the WHS Committee, including meetings, agendas and action tracking

- WHS training and induction for workers, volunteers and contractors

- Emergency preparedness activities and maintaining current WHS documentation and procedures

- Coordinating workers compensation, contractor WHS compliance and WHS audits, and consulting with workers on safety matters

Essential Criteria

- Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or a related field (or working towards completion) – recent graduates welcome

- Sound understanding of, or willingness to develop knowledge of, the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) and Regulations

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain WHS requirements clearly to workers and volunteers

- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organisation

- Robust attention to detail, with the ability to accurately maintain WHS registers, records and documentation

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn HART’s WHS systems

- Current driver’s licence, with a willingness to travel to HART locations across the Northern Rivers region as required

Desirable

- Relevant placements, internships or study will be highly regarded.

- Experience in the aged care, disability or community services sector

Applications close COB Monday 5th October 2026

How to Apply

To apply through SEEK, please attach your resume and a cover letter stating the following:
