About The Crafers Hotel

Recently awarded the #11 Best Gastropub in Australia and home to the #1 Gastropub Wine List in the country, The Crafers Hotel is a truly iconic hospitality destination.

Nestled in the Adelaide Hills, we bring together exceptional food, genuine hospitality, boutique accommodation, and one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most celebrated wine cellars. Our reputation has been built on creating unforgettable guest experiences, and we’re looking for an exceptional hospitality professional to join our leadership team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Venue Manager and working closely with our Beverage Director and broader Venue Management team, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the daily operation of the restaurant while championing wine education, commercial performance, and exceptional guest experiences.

This is a full-time salaried leadership position embedded within the core restaurant operation. You’ll lead from the front—developing people, elevating service standards, and helping shape one of Australia’s most respected hospitality venues.

Your Responsibilities

Wine Program

- Weekly wine stocktakes and stock control
- Oversee daily wine room presentation and restaurant stock requirements
- Build confidence and wine knowledge across the front-of-house team
- Drive premium wine sales and overall beverage performance
- Work with the Beverage Director and Venue Manager to achieve wine KPIs
- Contribute ideas towards the ongoing development of our award-winning wine program

Restaurant Leadership

- Be a strong leadership presence for front-of-house operations
- Coach, mentor and inspire the team during service
- Coordinate closely with the kitchen and bar to deliver operational excellence
- Create consistently warm, genuine and memorable guest experiences

Events & Wine Experiences

- Host wine tastings, producer dinners and signature events
- Provide wine expertise across guest-facing experiences
- Assist with event planning, staffing and service execution
- Collaborate with our marketing team on wine and event initiatives
- Help grow the commercial success of our wine events and experiences

Commercial & Team Performance

Working alongside the management team, you’ll help establish and achieve meaningful KPIs across:

- Premium wine sales
- Overall beverage revenue
- Average guest spend
- Guest satisfaction and service standards

More importantly, you’ll coach and develop the team to achieve these outcomes through education, leadership and accountability.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is measured not simply by wine knowledge, but by your ability to inspire people, elevate the guest experience, and grow the commercial success of the restaurant and wine program.

You’ll succeed by:

- Inspiring and educating the front-of-house team, creating a culture where wine is approachable, engaging and continuously learned.
- Creating lifelong guests through authentic conversations that build trust, encourage exploration and naturally lead to premium sales and lasting loyalty.
- Driving commercial growth by increasing beverage performance, premium wine conversion and average spend through exceptional service rather than hard selling.
- Developing new initiatives including tastings,

wine dinners and creative guest experiences that deepen guest engagement, loyalty and revenue.
- Leveraging your relationships within the wine industry to strengthen The Crafers Hotel’s reputation as one of Adelaide’s leading wine destinations.
- Leading with calm, confidence and professionalism, setting the benchmark for hospitality every service.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced hospitality leader with both operational excellence and a genuine passion for wine.

You’ll ideally bring:

- Significant experience leading front-of-house teams in premium hospitality.
- Strong knowledge of Australian and international wine regions, producers and styles.
- Relevant qualifications or industry experience in wine, winemaking, viticulture, or professional wine education.
- A proven ability to train, coach and inspire hospitality teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of premium wine sales and beverage performance.
- Exceptional communication and guest engagement skills.
- The ability to balance wine expertise with the practical demands of leading a busy restaurant.

Why Join The Crafers Hotel?

- Work with an award-winning wine program and one of the Australia’s most celebrated wine cellars.
- Join one of South Australia’s premier hospitality destinations in the Adelaide Hills.
- Become part of a passionate, talented and collaborative leadership team.
- Competitive salary, staff advantages and generous dining, accommodation and wine privileges.
- Discounts across the entire Adelaide Hills Hotel Group
