We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team based in Macquarie Park. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, month-end processes, taxation reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing the organisation’s financial records, transactions, and taxation compliance while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the general ledger and ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions
Performing month-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals, and account reconciliations
Preparing and analysing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
Monitoring financial data and resolving accounting discrepancies
Assisting with BAS and FBT reporting requirements
Supporting internal and external audits, including the preparation of required documentation
Maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Assisting with the maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register,
including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation
Implementing and maintaining effective internal controls to safeguard organisational assets
Identifying opportunities to streamline finance processes and improve reporting efficiency
Participating in finance system upgrades, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
Providing support and guidance to finance and non-finance stakeholders across the business
To be successful in this role you'll need:
CPA qualified
Minimum 3 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation compliance
Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audit processes
Advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency with financial systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
Well-developed organisational and time management skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
A proactive approach to process improvement and continuous learning
