As a Sommelier, you will play a key role in bringing our wine story to life, guiding guests through our award-winning wine programme and creating meaningful connections through personalised recommendations and pairings.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver exceptional guest experiences through expert wine recommendations, pairings and personalised service.
- Curate and maintain our wine list that complements Cafe Sydney’s culinary offering and commitment to excellence.
- Build meaningful relationships with guests, sharing knowledge and creating memorable moments that enhance their overall experience.
- Manage wine inventory, ordering, storage and stock rotation to ensure quality, consistency and operational efficiency.
- Support the ongoing development of team knowledge through wine education, coaching and training initiatives.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging Australian wine regions and new producers to continually elevate our wine programme.
- Collaborate with the management and culinary teams to develop wine events,



promotions and unique guest experiences.
- Uphold the highest standards of presentation, service and professionalism while contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture.

About You

- Proven experience as a Sommelier or in a premium dining environment.
- Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, vintages and food pairing principles.
- WSET, CMS or other recognised wine qualifications are required.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences and creating memorable moments.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both guests and team members.
- A cooperative team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and mentoring others.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and inventory management skills.
- Eager to continuously learn, grow and contribute to an industry-leading hospitality team.
