About Us

The Perth Bears are making history as the newest NRL club, joining the competition in 2027. We’re more than a sporting team – we’re building a movement that will unite fans, inspire young athletes, and create opportunities across Western Australia. By joining the Bears, you’ll play an important role in bringing our vision to life and creating something truly special for our members, partners, and community.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Social Media Coordinator who lives and breathes social media and understands how to create content that captures attention, builds engagement and brings fans closer to the action.

This is a hands-on role that combines social media management with content creation. You’ll help shape the club’s social media presence, create compelling content, engage with supporters and bring the Perth Bears story to life across multiple platforms.

Working closely with the Creative & Content Manager and broader club teams, you’ll be on the front line of our digital presence, capturing key moments, identifying opportunities and turning them into engaging content that grows our audience and strengthens our connection with supporters.

What You’ll Do

- Help develop and execute the Perth Bears’ social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X and emerging platforms.
- Manage the day-to-day publishing and scheduling of content across all social channels.
- Build and maintain the social content calendar in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Capture and create engaging short-form video, photography, social graphics and written content.
- Film and photograph training sessions, community programs, club events, announcements and match-day activities.
- Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities to grow audience engagement and reach.
- Manage supporter interactions, comments, messages and community conversations.
- Track, analyse and report on content performance to optimise future activity.
- Ensure all content aligns with the Perth Bears brand,

values and governance requirement

What We’re Looking For

- Experience managing social media accounts for a brand, sporting organisation or content-led business.
- A portfolio showcasing social storytelling, short-form video and creative content.
- Experience capturing content using cameras, mobile devices, lighting and audio equipment.
- Proficiency with editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
- Robust knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and emerging platforms.
- Excellent copywriting and communication skills.
- A strong understanding of audience engagement and social media analytics.
- Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Sound judgement and professionalism when managing public communities and sensitive information.
- A passion for sport, entertainment or fan engagement environments

Why Join Us?

This is more than a job. It’s a rare opportunity to help shape the future of the Perth Bears and build the foundations of a new NRL club. As part of a start-up environment, your ideas, expertise, and leadership will directly influence the development of our players, coaches, and performance pathways.

You’ll have the chance to build a best-in-class development system from the ground up and work within an ambitious, collaborative, and high performing culture. Most importantly, you’ll leave a legacy on rugby league in Western Australia and help shape the next generation of Perth Bears talent.

Working in a Start-Up Environment

The Perth Bears are a start-up organisation in a critical foundation phase.

Like other roles recruited to date, this position is intentionally hands-on and will initially operate with lean support structures.

The role will be fully accountable for establishing, delivering, and operating the function, while the club grows. This is not a role with layers of administration or inherited systems. You will be required to design processes, integrate technology platforms, build relationships, solve problems in real time, and deliver outcomes concurrently.

Success in this role requires comfort with ambiguity, strong personal accountability, and the ability to move seamlessly between strategic planning and day-to-day execution.

How to Apply

If you’re ready to join one of the most exciting new ventures in Australian sport, we want to hear from you. Apply now with your CV and a cover letter outlining your experience and why you’re the right person to build the Bears’ future.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and we encourage early applications. Interviews may commence at any stage of the recruitment process, and recruitment may conclude once a suitable candidate has been identified.

Please note that you will be sent a mandatory pre-screening questionnaire via email after submitting your application.

Important Information

This role is based in Perth, Western Australia and remote working opportunities are not available.

The Perth Bears are an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people with disability.

Please note, the Perth Bears do not accept unsolicited applications or requests for employment sent directly to the Club. Only applications submitted through the advertised channels will be considered. Not open to recruitment agencies.
