About the role
We are seeking an Accountant to support in the day-to-day operations of the Finance team by providing accounting support to the Finance Manager and REIV team.
This role pays a key part in maintaining accurate, compliant and efficient financial operations across the business. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you’ll support core accounting, reporting, compliance and financial processes while helping identify opportunities to improve how we work. You’ll be a valued partner to the wider business, providing reliable financial support and service to our stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
- Maintain the general ledger by ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, reviewed and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Month-end accounting, including accruals and general ledger reconciliations.
- Analyse financial data to assist in the preparation of financial reports.
- Record and monitor capital expenditure, including maintaining the fixed asset register.
- Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable duties including maintaining supplier records.
- Taxation compliance, including preparation of BAS statements, payroll tax & other statutory reporting.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Maintain sound working papers and a clearly defined audit trail.
- Document and improve policies, procedures and processes on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure all company records and documentation comply with legislative requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service to all internal and/or external stakeholders.
What you'll bring to the role
- Experience with Xero software.
- Relevant experience in a similar role.
- High levels of computer literacy, including robust Excel skills.
- Familiarity with financial reporting systems.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Analytical/ problem solving capabilities.
- Highly organised.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to exercise discretion in all dealings and maintain confidentiality.
- Works collaboratively with others, building and maintaining effective relationships and engenders a spirit of teamwork.
- A commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrable ability to contribute to a positive and ethical workplace culture.
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance.
Desirable
- Membership of CA/CPA (or currently completing).
- Experience with iMIS.
- Working knowledge of/or experience in a membership-based organisation.
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licences.
