About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Accountant to support the financial operations and ongoing growth of GoodState.
The role will be responsible for preparing and analysing financial information, maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting taxation and reporting requirements, and providing financial insights to management. The Accountant will also support the financial management of our retail operations, including inventory, sales, supplier costs and business expenditure.
This is a full-time, permanent position suited to an accounting professional with strong analytical skills and an understanding of Australian accounting and taxation requirements.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse monthly and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate classification and recording of financial transactions.
- Perform bank, balance sheet and other financial reconciliations to support accurate and timely reporting.
- Analyse sales, expenses, inventory costs and overall financial performance and prepare reports for management.
- Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS)
and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and assist with taxation information and reporting requirements.
- Monitor inventory-related financial records, stock values, supplier costs and cost of goods sold to support accurate accounting and financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate financial records, supporting documentation and audit trails in accordance with relevant accounting and regulatory requirements.
- Review accounting procedures and internal financial controls and recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Identify financial and accounting risks and provide recommendations to improve financial controls and business performance.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning to support the ongoing growth and sustainability of the business.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or a relevant comparable qualification.
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting, accounting and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable
- At least one year of relevant experience in an Accountant or similar accounting role.
- Experience within a retail, e-commerce or inventory-based business environment.
- Experience using MYOB or similar accounting software.
