About the Role An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Administration Officer - Patient Accounts & Prosthetics to join our team on a part-time basis.
Reporting directly to the Administration Services Manager, this role is responsible for patient accounts, billing administration, debtor management and prosthetic reconciliation activities. You will play a key role in supporting financial operations while providing exceptional service to patients, visitors, clinicians and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient accounts, billing and related administrative duties.
- Achieve daily debtor management targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to patients, visitors and healthcare providers.
- Process, reconcile and maintain accurate prosthetic records and documentation.
- Assist with the procurement, purchasing and inventory management of prosthetic products.
- Ensure accurate stock control and timely ordering of prosthetic items.
- Liaise effectively with theatre teams, Cath Lab staff, suppliers and hospital departments to ensure clinical requirements are met.
- Support compliance with hospital purchasing agreements, supplier contracts and organisational policies.
- Assist with banking, EFTPOS processing and account reconciliations as required.
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Experience in private hospital patient billing, health fund claiming and/or prosthetics management will be highly regarded.
Essential Criteria
- Exceptional numeracy and data accuracy skills.
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proven organisational and time-management abilities with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to prioritise competing tasks and work independently.
- Experience managing purchasing and inventory processes.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Evidence of immunisation status and required serology documentation.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in private hospital patient billing, health fund claiming and/or prosthetics management (highly desirable).
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with health fund billing, health fund contracts and patient billing processes.
- Experience in prosthetic procurement, inventory control and reconciliation.
- WebPAS Patient Management System experience (or the ability to quickly learn new systems).
- Eclipse billing experience.
- Experience with banking procedures, EFTPOS and account reconciliation.
- Experience in debtor management and collections.
- Understanding of private healthcare funding models and hospital administrative processes.
