NECA Education & Careers, in partnership with a Victorian State Government department, is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake a Business Administration Traineeship while gaining valuable workplace experience and a nationally recognised qualification.
About the Opportunity The Youth Employment Scheme (YES) provides young people with a 12-month entry-level position within the Victorian Public Service while completing a Certificate III or IV in Business. This unique opportunity combines practical workplace experience with formal training, allowing you to build valuable skills and establish a strong foundation for your future career.
Based full-time in the Melbourne CBD, you will join the Juries team, providing administrative and customer service support throughout the jury selection and management process.
Key Responsibilities
Working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, your duties will include:
- Support the delivery of jury services by assisting prospective jurors throughout the court process and confirming their eligibility and availability for jury service.
- Managing enquiries via phone, email, face-to-face interactions, and service counters.
- Managing and maintaining accurate administrative records and documentation.
- Coordinating questionnaires.
- Guiding jurors throughout the court setting and directing them to appropriate locations.
- Delivering jury orientation presentations and information sessions.
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- A professional and mature approach to handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Previous customer service experience, ideally in retail, hospitality, or other public-facing environments.
- Confidence in dealing with challenging situations and a diverse range of people.
- An interest in building a career within the public service or court system.
- Strong verbal communication skills and confidence presenting information to small groups.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
