Love running a busy shift — but could happily live without the grumpy customers?

If you already know how to lead a fast-paced team, keep people motivated and hit hourly targets, this could be a great change of pace.

Chocablock Chocolates is looking for a confident, energetic supervisor to lead our afternoon and evening production team.

And one of the best parts?

This is not a customer-facing role.

- No drive-through complaints.
- No angry customers at the counter.
- No delivery-app dramas.
- No one demanding to speak to the manager because their fries are cold.

You still get the parts of shift management that many supervisors actually enjoy — leading a team, training younger staff, organising the shift, solving problems and hitting targets — without spending your night dealing with customers. If you have managed a shift at McDonald’s, Hungry Jack’s, KFC, Grill’d or another fast-paced hospitality or retail business, we would particularly like to hear from you.

The role could also suit someone with experience as a teacher, education support worker, sports coach or youth leader who is confident managing teenagers, setting expectations and keeping a team focused and productive.

You don’t need chocolate-industry experience. We’ll teach you that part.

What we really need is someone who knows how to lead people.

The role

Chocablock is an Australian personalised confectionery business producing custom chocolates, lolly bags and other confectionery for businesses and events around Australia.

Our afternoon/evening team prepares products that our day shift uses to complete customer orders.

Your job is to make sure the shift runs smoothly, targets are met and the team stays productive, organised and positive.

You’ll be responsible for

- Supervising and motivating a team of predominantly junior casual employees.
- Allocating work and keeping staff moving between jobs.
- Setting clear expectations at the beginning of each shift.
- Monitoring individual and team productivity.
- Making sure hourly and shift production targets are achieved.
- Training junior employees and helping them improve their speed and accuracy.
- Maintaining quality standards across the shift.
- Identifying problems early and adjusting the plan when required.
- Keeping the production area organised and ready for the following day.
- Reporting production issues or staffing concerns to the Production Manager and management team.
- Working alongside the team when required — this is very much a hands-on supervisor role.

You’ll also learn how to prepare and produce a wide range of personalised confectionery products, including wrapping chocolates and preparing products for the following day’s production.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who naturally takes responsibility.

You’ll ideally have

- Previous experience supervising or leading a team.
- Experience managing teenagers or junior employees.
- Confidence giving instructions and holding people accountable.
- A friendly, upbeat personality without being afraid to set standards.
- The ability to motivate a team when things get busy.
- A strong understanding of productivity, deadlines and targets.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Strong organisational skills.

- Plenty of initiative and self-motivation.
- The willingness to lead from the front rather than simply supervise from the sidelines.

Experience we’d particularly value You might currently be, or previously have been:

- A McDonald’s or fast-food Shift Manager.
- A restaurant or hospitality supervisor.
- A retail team leader or duty manager.
- A teacher or education support professional.
- A sports coach or youth-program leader.
- A warehouse or production team leader.

The industry matters less to us than your ability to manage people, create structure and get a young team working well together. If you currently supervise in fast food or retail and enjoy managing the team but are getting tired of the customer-facing side of the job, this could be exactly the change you’re looking for.

The hours The usual shift is approximately 12:00pm–8:00pm, 2–3 weekdays per week, Monday to Friday.

During quieter periods, some shifts may be shorter.

There are no regular weekend shifts.

For the right person, there may also be opportunities for additional daytime work.

Why Chocablock?

You still get the buzz of running a busy shift — but without the front counter.

There are targets to hit, people to train, jobs to organise and problems to solve, but your focus is on your team and production, not customer complaints.

We have a young, social workforce and a busy production workplace. The right supervisor can have an enormous impact on both productivity and how much the team enjoys coming to work.

And yes — you will spend a considerable amount of time surrounded by chocolate.

If you’re used to running a busy shift, managing young employees and getting a team working together towards a target, we’d love to hear from you.
