About the Role

Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse ready to take the next step in their leadership journey by moving into an After-Hours Manager role. This permanent part-time opportunity predominantly covers evening shifts however, flexibility and availability to work across all shifts is required.

As an After-Hours Manager, you will provide clinical and operational leadership across the hospital outside of standard business hours. Supporting multidisciplinary teams, managing patient flow, and responding to operational and clinical issues, you will help ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.

Mater Bundaberg is a 59‑bed private hospital providing high‑quality surgical and medical services. The hospital includes dedicated surgical and medical wards, supporting patients across the acute and sub‑acute continuum of care with a robust focus on recovery and patient‑centred outcomes.

The Surgical

Ward manages a broad caseload including orthopaedics, gynaecology, general surgery, and ENT, while the Medical Ward delivers comprehensive medical and recovery‑focused care.

Our Perioperative

Department features three operating theatres and one procedure room, performing more than 4,400 procedures annually across specialties such as general surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, reconstructive plastics, and respiratory procedures.

Salary Range: $72.35 - $78.55 (Registered Nurse Level 3) plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you'll be doing

- Providing leadership, guidance and clinical support to multidisciplinary teams across all clinical areas after hours.
- Coordinating patient flow, bed management and staffing resources to optimise patient care and service delivery.
- Supporting and mentoring nursing staff, fostering a positive team culture and promoting professional development.
- Ensuring compliance with professional standards, legislation, hospital policies and ethical practices.




- Responding to clinical and operational issues, identifying risks and implementing appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
- Collaborating with Nurse Unit Managers, Visiting Medical Officers and Allied Health teams to facilitate safe and effective patient care.
- Advocating for patients and their families, ensuring care decisions are patient-focused and supported through effective communication.
- Managing workforce allocation and staffing requirements to meet service demands across the hospital.
- Contributing to quality improvement, accreditation and research activities to enhance patient outcomes and service excellence.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential clinical documentation while ensuring the effective use of hospital resources and equipment.

About you To be successful in your application, you will have:

- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) relevant to the necessary scope of practice;
- Minimum five 5 years of clinical experience across critical care workplace
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and PLS certification or willingness to obtain.
- Knowledge and experience of the facility requirements and standards;
- Prior comparable experience in a leadership/supervisory role in a healthcare environment
- Postgraduate qualifications in nursing Critical Care- ICU, CCU or ED
- Demonstrated analytical and report-writing skills
- Demonstrated leadership, human resource and business skills.
