About the Role

Join the Occupational Therapy (OT) team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) as an Allied Health Assistant, supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care across the department. In this role, you will assist in addressing clinical priorities as directed by the OT team, manage and maintain the equipment loan pool to ensure timely access to essential aids and equipment, administer therapy programs under the guidance and supervision of occupational therapists, and support the facilitation of group therapy sessions as determined by the OT team.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in allied health, working alongside a supportive and experienced team in a leading tertiary hospital setting. Versatile working arrangements will be considered, with the option to work two shorter shifts (e.g. two 4 hour days).

Some of the duties include:

- Update equipment loan register/database and manage overdue returns.
- Photocopy/print therapy resources, home exercise programs, group handouts.
- Answer department phone, take messages, redirect queries.
- Clean and reprocess returned equipment in line with infection-control standards.
- Basic maintenance checks (loose screws, worn tips on walking aids, brake function on wheelchairs).
- Transport equipment between wards, storage, and patients' homes/cars.
- Liaise with external loan pool services/vendors to maintain stock.




- Set up/pack down treatment areas before/after sessions.
- Escort patients to and from therapy areas.
- Prompt/cue patients through exercises with close supervision.
- Report changes in patient presentation back to the OT immediately.
- Attend daily handover and team huddles.
- Manage consumables inventory and order stock.
- Support new staff/students with orientation of department systems.
- Adapt to changing clinical demand and reprioritise tasks.
- Manage competing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Work within scope and being proactive with escalations.

Ideal Candidate

- Equivalent work experience in an allied health or health related setting and/or successful completion of Certificate III or Certificate IV Allied Health Assistant or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with health professionals in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
- Current NSW driver’s licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
