Asquith Workforce is currently recruiting for (2) Two Permanent Allocator – Scheduler on behalf of an established transport and logistics organisation.
This hands-on operational role suited to someone who enjoys coordinating people, vehicles and workloads, solving problems as they arise, and ensuring customers receive a reliable and efficient service.
You will play an key role in the day-to-day coordination of road fleet and rail operations, ensuring deliveries and workloads are effectively scheduled while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, customer service and operational performance.
About the role
Working closely with the operations team, drivers, subcontractors and other stakeholders, you will be responsible for coordinating daily transport requirements and responding to changing operational priorities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, prioritising and allocating daily fleet and rail workloads
- Coordinating schedules to ensure deliveries are completed within required timeframes
- Rescheduling workloads when unexpected operational changes occur
- Managing driver availability and allocating fatigue breaks
- Coordinating subcontractors and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships
- Monitoring fleet and rail utilisation
- Maintaining accurate operational records, timesheets, kilometre logs and billing information
- Completing data entry and maintaining information within freight management systems
- Troubleshooting operational issues and finding practical solutions
- Providing a high level of customer service
- Reporting incidents and communicating with relevant stakeholders
- Supporting continuous improvement across transport operations
- Ensuring transport activities comply with relevant safety and legislative requirements, including Chain of Responsibility and Heavy Vehicle National Law requirements
- Supporting and supervising allocation and operational staff where required.
- The position also requires some weekend availability and the ability to respond to after-hours calls when required, with 8/6 roster with other allocators
About you
We are looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and solutions-focused, with the confidence to make decisions in a busy operational environment.
You will ideally bring
- Experience within transport, logistics or supply chain operations
- Previous fleet vehicle or rail allocation experience – highly regarded
- Experience using Translogix or another transport allocation/freight management system
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Valuable Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with drivers, customers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
- An understanding of transport safety and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of fatigue management and weight management systems
- A good geographical understanding of the local area
- Mechanical aptitude or knowledge of heavy vehicles or rail – advantageous
- A strong commitment to workplace safety.
