JOB OVERVIEW The Financial Management Branch is responsible for managing all relationships with external Departments, Agencies and organisations and provides strategic financial services across the department. The Financial Operations Section is responsible for developing policy and managing operations concerning the department's banking, treasury, cash management functions, corporate and travel card programs, and accounts receivable and accounts payable services.

The Accounts Payable Officer APS 4 will undertake a broad range of tasks including accounts reconciliations, processing, administration and support in relation to finance activities.

Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated, meticulous attention to detail and resilient person who is keen to work in a fast paced team environment. You will be positive with numbers and have high attention to detail. You should be comfortable communicating over the phone and via email with clients from diverse backgrounds.

You will have a can do attitude, be flexible and embrace change. Previous experience in a finance processing environment and qualifications in accounting, finance or business or working towards completing qualifications would be highly regarded.

DUTIES

As an APS 4 you will be required to:

- Participate in day-to-day operational functions including: account processing, invoicing, monitoring and review, quality assurance, customer service, reconciliations, validations and corrections and records management to ensure the department’s financial and governance responsibilities and obligations are achieved.




- Build rapport and maintain internal and external relationships, respond to enquiries, provide assistance and factual advice in a timely manner.
- Maintain awareness of Commonwealth financial compliance and legislative frameworks.
- Manage needs of customers to meet and exceed expectations, identify and resolve issues.
- Participate as a constructive team member to deliver ongoing improvements, quality of service and professional practices and standards.
- Utilise financial systems and analytical tools to research, analyse and reconcile data.
- Manage prioritisation of own workloads checking accuracy of information and work, ensuring quality processing and receipting.
- Perform other duties as required in the Financial Operations section to ensure the sections outcomes are accomplished.
- Contribute to section and branch goals and objectives, business planning, evaluation and reporting on organisational goals in a collaborative and constructive manner.

ELIGIBILITY

- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- Any successful candidate external to DVA offered employment will be required to undergo pre-engagement screening checks, even if they currently have a security clearance. The screening checks are conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
- Any successful candidate will be required to obtain and/or maintain, a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance as a minimum.
