About Birdies Garden Products

Birdies is a family owned and operated manufacturing business which was first established in 2007. Birdies primarily manufactures corrugated raised garden beds for domestic and export sales. We require an assistant production manager to assist our current production manager to oversee the efficient day-to-day operation of the factory.

About the role The position involves assisting the Production Manager with coordinating, planning and managing the efficient day-to-day operation of the manufacturing facility at Birdies Garden Products including but not limited to production, dispatch (local and export), quality control, and occupational health and safety. The position also involves maintaining and improving efficiencies to allow the profitable operation of the factory and business.

Key responsibilities

- Utilise Fishbowl Inventory management system (or other such systems as may be implemented) to assist Production Manager to plan and manage production and dispatch requirements daily if instructed

- Print production and dispatch requirements to be given to staff in relevant departments daily if instructed

- Accurately record production during and at the end of each day

- Adjust inventory levels based on actual stock on hand as needed if instructed

- Ensure quality control is carried out in respect of production of components and finished products and dispatch across factory

- Action production plans set out by Production Manager on a daily,



weekly and monthly basis

- Coordinate and manage the efficient and safe operation of the factory as directed by Production Manager

- Manage and coordinate local dispatch and export of products including container packing and paperwork, bulk dispatch and courier

- Induct and train new staff from time to time

- Ensure production targets are met in various departments and manage staff efficiently with Production Manager guidance

About you

- Ability to manage staff performance and discipline as needed and in consultation with Production Manager or Human Resources or management

- Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and ability to ensure they are met and adhered to

- Ability to train staff in accordance with secure work procedures

- Ability to assume responsibilities of Production Manager in the event of their absence

Skills and Experience

- Experience in a similar role or industry as a manufacturing supervisor or assistant production manager

- Background in manufacturing

- Proficient with Excel and inventory management systems (prior experience with Fishbowl is an advantage)

- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills

- Strong leadership ability

- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills

- Understanding of production planning, process improvement, and quality control

- Knowledge of workplace health and safety compliance and standards
