About the role This is a hands-on DevOps role for a platform engineer who loves making cloud environments faster, safer and more reliable. You'll own and improve our AWS platform, automate how we build and ship, and work shoulder to shoulder with developers to help them prototype, debug and deploy with confidence. If you get a kick out of solving tough infrastructure problems, stripping friction out of the pipeline and seeing your improvements go live in short sprint cycles, this is the role for you. (This role is know internally as DevOps Engineer.)

What you’ll be doing

- Keep our AWS infrastructure healthy, PaaS orchestration, build agents, and monitoring tools and dashboards across a mix of EC2 and Kubernetes-based containers
- Design, build and automate internal processes, making heavy use of AWS, Terraform and a range of automation tooling
- Build, maintain and troubleshoot our CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines, from Jenkins through to GitOps tools such as ArgoCD for Kubernetes
- Partner with developers to identify, debug and resolve build, deployment and production issues
- Help developers design reliable, stable environments for recent services
- Guide code through the software development lifecycle, particularly its promotion and deployment across environments

- Mentor and coach team members and support leadership with day-to-day technical direction
- Strengthen our observability so we can detect and respond to incidents faster

What we’re looking for

- 3+ years’ experience in a Platform Engineer role, including commercial experience supporting Linux systems in a large-scale environment
- A solid understanding of DevOps methodologies and ways of working
- Commercial experience supporting applications running on AWS cloud services
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and its surrounding ecosystem
- Solid scripting and automation skills to build and streamline deployments
- Substantial hands-on experience with git and with Docker containers
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, CircleCI or GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- AWS certification at Associate level or higher
- Demonstrated experience with agile ways of working, such as Scrum
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with developers and engineers

Nice to have

- Good understanding of Java, Python, Node.js or other software development languages
- Experience with observability and application monitoring/profiling, using both open source and commercial monitoring tools
- Experience with Agile, ITIL, security, audit, compliance
- Experience with SQL and/or DBMS optimisation
- Versed with cloud technologies and offerings (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)

Please note we are only able to consider applicants with full working rights for Australia.

- We review applications on an ongoing basis so encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
- The next stage of our recruitment process will require you to complete a one way video interview.
