Role Overview

B.C.H. Metro Pty Ltd atf The Westridge Bakery Unit Trust is seeking a skilled and reliable Baker to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting a range of fresh products daily, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

· Perform pre-operational checks on work areas, equipment, and utensils to ensure compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety standards.

· Inspect raw ingredients for quality and freshness, and accurately measure and prepare ingredients in accordance with standardized recipes.

· Prepare doughs, batters, and pastry components, including mixing, kneading, fermenting,

portioning, and shaping to meet production requirements.

· Prepare fillings for pastries, pies, and other baked products in line with established recipes.

· Manage baking processes by controlling oven temperatures and monitoring product appearance to achieve consistent results.

· Coordinate baking operations, including tray preparation, oven loading, baking,

unloading, and cooling of products.

· Apply finishing techniques such as glazing, icing, and decorating to ensure products meet presentation standards.

· Operate and monitor bakery machinery and equipment to ensure safe and efficient production.

· Clean and maintain baking equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure hygiene and operational efficiency.

· Plan and organize daily production to ensure timely availability of fresh baked goods.

· Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients, and assist with ordering to maintain continuous production.

· Ensure all products meet quality, consistency, and presentation standards prior to display or delivery.





· Work collaboratively with bakehouse and front-of-house staff to support smooth operations and meet customer demand.

· Assist in the development and improvement of recipes and baked products.

· Perform duties in line with early morning and peak production schedules.

Relevant Qualifications:

· Certificate III in Baking (ANZSCO Code: 351111) or equivalent qualifications

· Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain)

Relevant Experience:

· At least 03+ years of relevant experience as a Baker in similar capacity.

Relevant Skills:

· Ability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and additional hours as required

· Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

· Sound knowledge of operating bakery equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner

· Knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and regulatory requirements within a bakery environment

· Experience in accurately weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients in accordance with recipes

· Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced production environment

· Strong organizational and time management skills to meet production schedules

· High level of attention to detail in food preparation and product presentation

· Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic

· Well-developed sense of taste and smell to support quality control

· Good physical stamina to perform manual tasks over extended periods

B.C.H. Metro Pty Ltd atf The Westridge Bakery Unit Trust is seeking a skilled and reliable Baker / Pastry Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing a range of high-quality breads, pastries, cakes, slices, and sweet and savoury menu specials.

The role involves working as a valued member of an experienced team, with a strong focus on teamwork, product quality, innovation, consistency, and continuous improvement.





Major Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

· Prepare and present a wide variety of breads, pastries, cakes, slices, sweet lines and savoury menu specials

· Creating recipes for breads and pastries that are both delicious and visually appealing to our customers

· Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, glazes, and sauces in-house

· Decorate pastries and donuts using different icings, toppings, fillings etc. to ensure the presentation satisfies our customer’s needs

· Sourcing and selecting top-quality ingredients to improve flavours, textures, and overall product quality.

· Perform daily cleaning, rotation, stocktaking, and equipment checks

· Manage the pastry prep area efficiently and hygienically

· Work with Head Baker on customer orders and daily production sheet changes

· Upholding strict food safety and hygiene regulations to maintain a clean and compliant baking environment. Adhere to HACCP, food safety, and allergy management practices

· A willingness to coach and support other team members in learning your craft.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

· Certificate III in Baking / Pastrycook (or 3+ years equivalent experience)

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Baker/Pastrycook position in a bakery with high volume & rapid pace

· Understanding of customer trends, seasonal baking, and customer expectations

· Ability to multi-task across baking, pastry preparation and takeaway orders

· Good Understanding of Food Safety Practices

Relevant Skills:

· Passion for scratch baking, with a flair for classic and modern techniques

· Good pallet knife, decorating and cake writing skills.

· Excellent technical knowledge of pastry cooking techniques.

· Commitment to producing consistently high-quality baked goods

· Eye for presentation, attention to detail and portion control

· Excellent hygiene, time management, and prep organization

· Strong time management and organizational skills to meet production deadlines

· Team-first attitude and great communication skills

· Ability to work under pressure during peak weekends and events

· Strong work ethic.
