About the role

Old England Hotel is seeking a Bistro Supervisor to join our hospitality team in Heidelberg, Victoria. This is a casual position offering flexibility whilst maintaining the high standards our establishment is known for.

As Bistro

Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our bistro, ensuring excellent service delivery, staff coordination, and guest satisfaction. This role is pivotal in creating a welcoming atmosphere and maintaining operational excellence within our food and beverage service.

Key responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate bistro staff during service periods, ensuring effective workflow and adherence to service standards
- Manage table assignments, reservations, and guest seating to optimise customer experience
- Train and mentor bistro team members on service protocols, menu knowledge, and customer service excellence
- Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and timely delivery to tables
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and discretion
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bistro space, including tables, bar areas, and service stations
- Assist with stock management, ordering, and inventory control for bistro supplies
- Enforce health and safety compliance and hospitality protocols throughout service
- Support the management team with opening and closing procedures as required

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in a supervisory or senior service role within hospitality, preferably in a bistro or casual dining environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-focused mindset




- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and best practices
- Ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods
- Competency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic hospitality administration
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and food handling standards
- Flexibility to work casual hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification is desirable
