About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Business Development Manager (WA) to lead the growth of HTS's work pipeline across our Building & Structural, Electrical, Communications & Instrumentation (EC&I;), Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP), and Civil & Infrastructure service lines. You'll identify, pursue and secure new business across our core markets, resources and mining, energy, defence, government and remote infrastructure, throughout Australia and the Pacific.
Operating at a senior level and reporting to the General Manager, you'll build strategic client relationships, position HTS competitively in target markets, and work closely with the executive, estimating and delivery teams to convert opportunities into profitable, safely delivered projects. This is a genuine ambassador role, you'll represent HTS's brand, values and reputation as a remote construction specialist and veteran-owned, ISO-certified contractor.
This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Perth office, with travel.
What You'll Be Doing
- Contributing to and executing HTS's business development strategy, identifying and prioritising target markets, clients and sectors across WA
- Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and industry pipelines to inform HTS's positioning
- Building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients, and acting as a senior point of contact for key accounts
- Representing HTS at industry events,
forums and client engagements
- Identifying, qualifying and tracking new opportunities through a structured pipeline, and leading bid/no-bid decision-making with the executive and estimating teams
- Maintaining accurate CRM records and pipeline reporting for the leadership team
- Contributing to the preparation of compelling, compliant tenders, proposals and capability submissions, and aligning tenders to client-specific win themes
- Strengthening HTS's brand and reputation, overseeing capability statements and client-facing materials with the marketing function
- Working with the executive, delivery, estimating and People & Culture teams to ensure opportunities align with capability and capacity
- Providing regular, accurate reporting on pipeline, wins and BD performance to the executive and Board
- Championing HSEQ principles and HTS's values in all client and market engagement
What You'll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Commerce or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- 10 years' experience in business development, commercial or senior project delivery roles within construction, resources or infrastructure
- Demonstrated success securing and growing work with tier-one clients in the resources, energy, defence or infrastructure sectors
- Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card) and current C class driver's licence
- Exceptional interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills, with persuasive written skills for tenders and proposals
- Sound commercial and contractual acumen, and working knowledge of CRM systems
- Experience in remote, regional or FIFO/DIDO project environments highly regarded
- Knowledge of estimating, tendering and construction contract models (e.g. EPC, EPCM, D&C;, construct-only) highly regarded
- Familiarity with Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards highly regarded
- An established network across the WA and NT resources and construction markets highly regarded
