Join a scale-up Australian technology company delivering advanced engineering systems to container terminals around the world. AMLab is a Western Australian technology company specialising in LiDAR and camera machine vision, industrial engineering and advanced software solutions for container terminals.

As AMLab continues to grow, we are looking for a practical and organised Business Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day financial, HR and business administration of the company.

This is a broad, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across different areas of a small business and making sure things get done properly.

You will work closely with the Head of Operations and management team, liaising with external bookkeeper and accountants and other professional advisers. You do not need to be an accountant, but you should have accounting/finance experience and be comfortable working with Xero for forecasting, budgeting and normal business administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage business as usual activities for payroll, accounts and finance, and human resource administration.
- Manage payroll and associated payroll administration.
- Assist with Employee Share Scheme administration, including option documentation, certificates, records and coordination of ATO reporting requirements.
- Act as the primary contact between AMLab and external bookkeeper and accountants.
- Prepare and maintain company budgets, cashflow forecasts and financial tracking.
- EOFY financial statement preparation, working with Xero and our external accountants.
- Prepare financial and management reports for the Board, including KPI tracking, budget performance and project expenditure.

- Coordinate preparation of supporting information for grants and incentives, such as R&D; Tax Incentive and Export Market Development Grant, particularly during the June–August preparation period.
- Manage routine HR administration including employee records, onboarding processes, employment documentation and annual remuneration/performance review processes.
- Maintain company policies, records and general corporate administration.
- Coordinate normal office administration such as leases, amenities and supplies, coordinating any ad-hoc office work, and creating workflows to aid procurement, timesheeting, invoicing, reports, and so on

About You You are organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership of the business administration of a growing company. The company is fast-moving, data-driven technology business where executive leadership decisions are on initiatives that demonstrate clear, measurable value.

You enjoy a role where one day may involve business as usual items like reviewing project expenditure and cashflow, while the next involves ad-hoc events like employee onboarding, or grant applications. When ad-hoc tasks pop up that are outside your usual role, you are willing to learn new things and give unfamiliar tasks a solid go.

You will ideally have

- Experience in business administration, bookkeeping, finance administration or a similar role.

- Good working knowledge of Xero, even if you don’t love it.
- Confidence working with budgets, cashflow, payroll and custom but basic management reporting.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and follow issues through to completion.
- Australian working rights.

Experience with any of the following would be useful, but is not essential:
- Experience working in engineering, technology or professional-services businesses.
- Employee Share Schemes or employee option plans.
- R&D; Tax Incentive preparation.
- HR administration.
- Working within a small or growing company where responsibilities naturally overlap and the environment is flexible and fast-changing.

If you meet these qualifications and are ready to take on a new challenge, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity. Why Join AMLab?

- Join a growing Australian technology company exporting advanced engineering solutions globally.
- Work with visibility across the whole business and chance to jump into areas of interest.
- Take ownership of the company's business and finance functions.
- Work in a small team where improvements you make can be implemented quickly.
- Develop exposure across finance, HR, corporate administration and commercial operations rather than being restricted to one narrow function.
- Flexible working arrangements are supported where practical.

How to apply Please submit your CV and a covering letter through SEEK. Cover letters are not essential but will help identify the right candidate quickly. The cover letters are reviewed first, then the resumes.
