Business Improvement Manager –

About The Role

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Train Services at V/Line.

Reporting to the Director Train Services, the Business Improvement Manager will play a key role in shaping and delivering the Train Services modernisation strategy. Working closely with operational leaders, you will lead business improvement initiatives that enhance performance, strengthen compliance, support workforce capability, and drive sustainable change across the function.

The role will drive organisational change, embed a culture of continuous improvement, and support the delivery of strategic operational and safety priorities across Train Services.

Key accountabilities include

- Lead strategic business improvement and transformation initiatives across Train Services.
- Partner with operational leaders to identify and deliver efficiency, risk, compliance and performance improvements.
- Develop business cases, business plans and performance reporting to support informed decision-making and strategic outcomes.
- Lead the review and enhancement of policies, procedures and operational practices to ensure they remain effective, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Manage stakeholder engagement and communication across a range of internal and external stakeholders.




- Lead and support a small team responsible for delivering business improvement and safety initiatives.

- Travel Considerations

This role is based at Southern Cross Station, Melbourne. Occasional travel may be required to support engagement with operational teams across the V/Line network.

About You

You are a strategic and collaborative leader who enjoys solving complex problems and delivering meaningful organisational change. You can bring people together around a shared vision and are confident influencing outcomes in large, operationally focused environments.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

- Experience leading large-scale business improvement, transformation or change programs in complex organisations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence at all levels.
- Proven ability to analyse data, identify opportunities and implement practical solutions that improve organisational performance.
- Experience developing business cases, strategic initiatives and performance improvement programs.
- Strong leadership capability, including experience coaching, supporting and developing teams.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Management or a related discipline, or equivalent skilled experience.
