Cairns Regional Council is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our 2027 Trainee & Apprentice Intake!

We have two (2) Traineeships and nine (9) Apprenticeships available, offering you the perfect opportunity to gain practical experience, develop new skills, and contribute to your community.

Available Traineeships & Apprenticeships:

You will have the chance to apply for the following traineeships & apprenticeships, each offering unique opportunities to build your skills:

- Apprentice Plumber – Community Spaces: Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of Parks Plumbing infrastructure.

- Apprentice Plumber – Utility Services: Assist with the installation, maintenance, repair and renewal of water reticulation infrastructure to support the reliable delivery of potable water services.

- Apprentice Electrician: Assist in the installation, maintenance,



repair and testing of electrical infrastructure, equipment and systems to support the safe and efficient delivery of Council services.

- Apprentice Fitter & Turners: Assist with the installation, maintenance, repair and overhaul of mechanical equipment and infrastructure associated with Council's water and wastewater assets.

- Trainee Administration Officer (School Based) – Business Support: Provide administrative support to the Business units within Revenue & Business Support team.

- Trainee Administration Officer – Business Support: Provide essential clerical and administrative support to the Business units within Revenue & Business Support team.
