Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a dedicated and community-focused Cancer Support Health Promotion Officer to join our Cancer Support Program within the Public Health Unit. This rewarding position will play a vital role in increasing cancer awareness, promoting early detection and screening, and supporting individuals and families throughout their cancer journey.

Through a strong focus on prevention, health promotion, community engagement and culturally safe care, our team works to improve health outcomes and strengthen communities.

About the Role

As the Cancer Support Health Promotion Officer, you will work closely with community members, Elders, health professionals, and partner organisations to deliver culturally safe cancer education, health promotion activities, and community engagement initiatives. You will help empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to make informed decisions about their health while strengthening access to cancer screening and support services.

Key Responsibilities:

- Delivering culturally appropriate cancer prevention and health education programs.
- Promoting participation in cancer screening programs, including Breast Screen, Cervical Screening and Bowel Screening.
- Coordinating community awareness campaigns, events,



workshops and yarning circles.
- Building strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders and local stakeholders.
- Supporting individuals and families affected by cancer through education, advocacy and referral pathways.
- Monitoring and evaluating program activities and contributing to funding reports and program reviews.

About you:

- Qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health, Aboriginal Health, Community Services or a related discipline.
- A strong commitment to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes.
- Experience in health promotion, community engagement, public health or a related field.
- Experience in community health or health education is an advantage, but entry-level candidates are welcome to apply.
- Knowledge and understanding of cancer-related health issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with communities, health professionals and external stakeholders
- Robust organisational and project management skills
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the Barkly Region.

Desirable:





- Experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs)
- Familiarity with cancer screening programs and health promotion initiatives
- Remote NT experience.

Administration, Support & Management (Admin) 6.1 - 6.5: $80,337.24 - $99.102.32per annum
