Your remuneration includes

- Casual Correctional Officers receive a base hourly rate of $39.03 plus applicable loadings.
- Uniform allowance: $450 per annum.
- Superannuation: employer superannuation contributions 13%
- Penalty rates apply for eligible shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.

What does a Correctional Officer do? Travelling over a million kilometres a year, the Court Escort Security Unit (CESU) is responsible for the secure transportation of thousands of inmates across New South Wales each year.

It’s a hands on job where you’ll need good judgement, clear communication and the ability to work as part of a team.

Some days will be routine. You may be conducting headcounts, completing searches and monitoring movements.





Other days you may need to deal with situations that require you to stay calm and make decisions under pressure. Use of force is a real part of custodial work, and you’ll be trained in when and how it can be used safely and appropriately.

Eligibility requirements

- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Hold a minimum of a current Provisional P1 Drivers Licence
- Be an Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Willing to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
- Meet the medical standards to be a correctional officer and have reasonable level of fitness.
- Candidates will be required to provide details of visible body art or modifications that are on the face, scalp, ears, neck, or hands as well as tattoos or modifications of an offensive nature. For this policy, this is specific to the anything visible beyond the fastened collar or buttoned cuff of a long sleeve shirt. Please refer to the dress manual below for further information.
