What you need to be a CSO

To join us as a CSO you will need:

- A Completed Bachelor degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or in a related field with further study or work experience – please click here for more details on qualifications
- A Queensland Blue Card, is a mandatory requirement to hold before applying for a Child Safety Officer Role - for interstate/international applicants please see the following link for further information Blue Card Fact Sheet For Interstate Applicants
- An Australian Driver’s License, and the legal right to work in Australia

What does being a CSO mean?

As a CSO, you’ll be a voice for children and young people, ensuring their safety and wellbeing under the Child Protection Act 1999. You’ll:

- Work closely with families, caregivers, and community organisations
- Deliver statutory child protection services, including assessment, intervention, casework, and case management
- Attending court and writing affidavits
- Working with partner agencies and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations
- Provide safe, culturally informed, and respectful support to families from diverse backgrounds
