- Proven ability to develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures and provide technical guidance to cross-functional Agile teams.

Picture this: You're embedded with a high-performing CIO Group inside a major federal department, helping shape and deliver cloud-based ICT projects that touch Australian businesses and industries nationwide. We're talking MS Azure, M365, DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, identity management, and integrations with platforms like Dynamics 365 CRM - the full stack. The role is remote-considered (case-by-case with your supervising manager), so whether you're based in TAS, VIC, or NSW, you can throw your hat in the ring.

This is a 12-month contract (up to 2 x 12-month extensions — hello, 3-year runway!) at an EL1-equivalent seniority level, kicking off around 19 October 2026.

What you'll be doing:

- Designing enterprise-level Azure and M365 cloud platform architectures
- Developing high-level solution architectures and detailed guidance for cloud engineers
- Providing impact analysis and technical direction across project and operational work
- Championing whole-of-government standards, DTA Digital Service Standard, and EA principles (re-use before buy/build, configure over customise)
- Collaborating with cross-functional Agile teams — BAs, scrum masters, developers, enterprise architects, testers, and business owners
- Driving platform automation, CI/CD, and IaC practices via Azure DevOps
- Being a strategic leader, mentor, and influencer — not just a hands-on builder

Essential CriteriaCloud experience: Demonstrated experience in cloud-based solution implementation with technologies including:

- Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management
- Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments
- Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights
- Integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
- Azure networking, security and identity management capabilities including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role Based Access Control

- Ability to collaborate and mentor team members to promote team harmony

Agile:

- Experience working with Agile Multi-disciplinary teams to deliver secure, user friendly and reliable solutions that meet stakeholder, citizen, and business expectations
- Ability to pragmatically change direction and scope as new information is discovered and challenges or opportunities present themselves

Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience 5yrs+ implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies. The Cloud Architect/Engineer will:

- Liaise with cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures for MS-Azure




- Provide impact analysis and technical guidance in design and development of project work aligned with WoG Standards

Desirable Criteria
1. Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks
2. Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures
3. Demonstrated experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture
4. Minimum 3 years' experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems. Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.
