Company Accountant

Are you an experienced Company Accountant looking for a role where you can truly own the finance function?

We’re seeking an experienced and hands-on Company Accountant to join a successful, family-focused organisation in South Sydney on a 12-month temporary contract, covering a period of parental leave.

This is a genuine stand-alone finance role, giving you ownership across the full finance function for a business of approximately 40 employees. You’ll work closely with the Directors and wider business, overseeing everything from month-end and management reporting through to AP, AR and payroll.

The Role: This is a broad and hands-on Company Accountant position where you’ll be responsible for:

- Managing the month-end close

- Preparing journals, reconciliations and financial reports

- Preparing monthly management reporting

- Managing cash flow and forecasting

- Managing capital expenditure and financial controls

- Overseeing AP, AR and Payroll

- Providing financial analysis and insights to the Directors

- Maintaining strong financial processes and controls

- Identifying opportunities to improve finance systems and processes

- Working alongside an Accounts Administrator who will support the transactional finance function

- Acting as the key point of contact for all day-to-day finance matters

You’ll be the go-to person for all things finance, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety and getting into the detail when required.

About You: We’re looking for someone who has:





- Previous experience as a Company Accountant or in a similar all-round accounting role

- Experience working within a small to medium-sized business

- Strong month-end and management reporting experience

- Solid reconciliation, cash flow and financial control skills

- Experience across AP, AR and Payroll
- A hands-on and practical approach

- Solid communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work autonomously and take ownership
- A commercial mindset and willingness to get involved across the business
- The ability to hit the ground running
