About us The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) is responsible for protecting the South Australian community from the effects of fire, road crashes, chemical incidents, and other emergencies. We are a team of approximately 1,300 operational personnel and corporate professionals serving the community across 20 metropolitan and 17 regional fire stations.

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is a community-based fire and emergency service dedicated to protecting life, property, and environmental assets in rural and semi-urban South Australia. The CFS consists of approximately 13,500 volunteers and 180 Career Staff.

About the role The Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Officer plays an important role in delivering clear, timely and engaging communication to keep stakeholders informed and involved. The role supports communications initiatives within the PFAS Joint-Agency Project across the MFS and CFS, while also contributing to the work of the MFS Media and Corporate Communications Unit. It offers variety, purpose and the opportunity to deliver meaningful communication outcomes across corporate communication, media and stakeholder engagement.

The role suits someone who can write well, build positive working relationships, manage competing priorities and adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced emergency services workplace.

As the Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Officer, you will:

- Draft, proofread and edit communications, such as emails, newsletters, fact sheets, reports,



and policies that positively impact on MFS and CFS staff and stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of communications campaigns and engagement activities, including promotional materials where appropriate.
- Assist with maintaining web content.
- Translate technical information into clear, accessible content for a range of audiences.
- Support engagement with key audiences, including members of the public, firefighters and volunteers.
- Help raise community awareness and understanding of PFAS through clear, effective communication.
- Contribute to communications projects, ensuring timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met to a high standard.
- Support media relations, including the delivery of quality operational public information.

About You To be successful in this role, we're looking for someone who is:

- An excellent writer with strong attention to detail.
- Experienced in preparing briefs, articles, fact sheets, reports, publications and web content.
- Able to communicate concisely, clearly, effectively and accurately with a diverse range of people, both orally and in writing.
- Organised, proactive, and able to juggle multiple tasks.
- A team player with great interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn.
- Confident using Microsoft Office suite.
