Community and Events Officer (Maternity Leave)
PART TIME – Fixed Term until July 2027 with the possibility of extension
0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) – days will be negotiated with the successful applicant
Salary Range: Level 4 $102,654 (pro-rata) + 12% Superannuation
Location: Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to Geraldton

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Corporate Affairs team as a Community and Events Officer on a fixed-term part time basis to cover a period of maternity leave.
About Us
Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) provides an essential service, connecting regional Australia to national and international markets as a specialist port catering to boutique and diverse operations.
MWPA operates seven (7) commercial berths and critical marine and land assets which enables the facilitation of trade for the Mid West region, exporting a variety of products including iron ore, grains, mineral sands, non-mineral sands and mineral concentrates. The Port also imports fuel, fertiliser and break bulk cargo. The Port of Geraldton also encompasses the Geraldton Fishing Boat Harbour (FBH), home to Geraldton’s fishing industry.
The FBH provides significant opportunities for further development of the Port and activation of a thriving commercial and leisure industry hub.

About the Role
This role is responsible for delivering and supporting community and stakeholder engagement initiatives and events that contribute to MWPA’s social licence, reputation and positive connections with the Mid West community.
About You
Key Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in community development, event management, business, communications, or related field, or relevant industry experience community investment, grants, community engagement, events or partnerships.
- High-level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise with and build effective relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated event and project management skills with the ability to deliver on time, within budget and to high standards.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering community engagement activities that build positive relationships with community and stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience within and understanding of relevant industry.
- Demonstrated experience developing and building effective community, stakeholder and partner relationships.

Eligibility to Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for positions in the public sector. Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies within the relevant MWPA team. This includes positions that may become vacant as a result of internal candidate being successful through this recruitment process. In addition, should the successful applicant decline the offer of employment or vacate the advertised position within the validity period, the next most suitable applicant from this selection process may be appointed.
Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the date the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
