The Community Development Team

Part of the Planning and Community Services Directorate, Community Development makes an integral contribution to the social, cultural, and economic development of our community. We achieve this through engaging with the local community to build social capital, facilitate capacity building, and a sense of community pride and belonging within the Town. The team works collaboratively with other business units, as well as community groups and organisations, schools, sport and recreation clubs, and members of the community to facilitate programs and activities that benefit the community such as senior services, disability access and inclusion, club development, and events.

The Role

Join the Community Development Team in this rewarding 9-month parental leave chance, supporting initiatives that promote inclusion, participation and community connection across the Town!

In this role you will work collaboratively on and support the portfolios of the Town’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, as well as the Volunteering and Community Grants program. Working with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will provide information, recognition and support to volunteers within the Town and delivery of the Town’s Community Organisations Support Grant Program and help deliver initiatives that make a meaningful difference to our community.

Selection Criteria

- Experience in program and event development,



coordination and evaluation with a particular focus on Disability Access and Inclusion, Volunteering and Community Grant programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of Community Development principles, along with the current trends in Disability Access and Inclusion, Volunteering and the delivery of Community Grant programs including program funding, sponsorship and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with internal and key external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes and shared goals.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently to deliver timely outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing reports for broad scope audiences and the facilitation/coordination of group activities.
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate is desirable.
- Former qualification in a related discipline is desirable.

Eligibility

- Current National Police Certificate (no older than 3 months) is essential.
- Australian working rights.
