Details: Are you looking for a role that is both challenging and deeply rewarding? ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join the Offender Reintegration team as a Community Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer (ASO6). This position offers the opportunity to influence real change, build strong community partnerships, and support culturally informed reintegration outcomes.

The successful applicant will play a key role within Offender Reintegration and Community Corrections to support staff to work effectively to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In addition, you will provide individual case support and expertise at the operational level but will also aim to develop more systemic approaches to cultural engagement, including development of relationships with key stakeholder organisations.

Further to this, you will promote and apply the principles of contemporary best practices in relation to offender management in the context of supporting culturally informed assessment, case planning and intervention strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture,



possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, Elders, stakeholders and community members.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

- Experience working with vulnerable clients with complex needs in a criminal justice setting is highly desirable.
- Driver’s licence (Class C) is essential.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra (act.gov.au)
- This is an Identified position in accordance with Section 27(4) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 and is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
