About You The Community Sport and Recreation Development Officer will be responsible for facilitating the delivery of the MSC’s community engagement strategies; designing, implementing and evaluating the sports participation programs, taster sessions and events, whilst fostering and supporting the growth and development of Community Coaches through professional development and mentorship. This leadership position plays a vital role in stakeholder relationships and engaging young people and community members into meaningful sporting activities that address barriers to engagement, foster skill development and encourage participation in the broader mainstream sport & recreation community.
- Design and Implement Inclusive Programs by coordinating and evaluating inclusive sport, recreation and community programs that respond to community priorities and develop sustainable participation pathways that encourage ongoing involvement in sport, recreation and community activities.
- Facilitate Structured Sport and Recreation Activities through delivering structured, safe and engaging sport and recreation activities for participants of varying ages, abilities and backgrounds.
- Community Engagement and Relationship Building establishing and maintaining positive relationships with participants, community leaders, sporting clubs, schools, community organisations and key stakeholders. This role will see you engaging with the community to identify needs, barriers to participation and emerging opportunities, using feedback to inform program development and continuous improvement.
- Personal Development and Participant Support Foster a protected, welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages participation, personal growth and wellbeing. You will support participants to develop confidence, social connections, leadership skills and resilience through positive sport and recreation experiences.
- Maintain accurate records of program participation, attendance, outcomes and participant feedback.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance, using data and feedback to inform continuous improvement.

Essential Criteria
- Minimum Qualification: Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation or equivalent. A Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Community Development, or related field would be an advantage
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Deep understanding of cultural diversity and inclusion principles
- Ability to communicate effectively across different cultural contexts
- Sensitivity to cultural nuances and potential barriers to participation
- Active listening and empathy
- Strong group facilitation and conflict resolution skills
- Skills in curriculum development for sports and recreation
- Ability to design inclusive and engaging program content
