Role Description The Community Support Worker is a full time, on-site role based in Sydney, NSW, providing direct support to individuals experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse and homelessness. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting client assessments, coordinating case management plans, and connecting clients with appropriate community health and social services. The role involves building trusting relationships, offering emotional support, and advocating for clients within service networks and local jurisdictions.

The Community Support

Worker will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, maintain accurate records,



and contribute to program development using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches. This position requires consistent presence in the community and at partner service locations to ensure timely and effective support.

Qualifications

- Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication skills to build rapport, listen actively, and collaborate with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
- Demonstrated Community Support and Community Health experience in working with people affected by domestic abuse, homelessness, or related social issues.
- Proficiency in Case Management, including assessment, planning, coordination, documentation, and follow-up of client support plans.
- Experience or training in trauma-informed practice, crisis intervention, and risk assessment is highly desirable.
- Relevant qualifications in social work, community services, psychology, health, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in the sector.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, with sound organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of local service systems, housing options, and referral pathways in Sydney and wider NSW.
- Commitment to ethical, gender-neutral, culturally safe practice, including working respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
