BDK Labour Hire is currently seeking Experienced Concreter's to join a busy precast yard's located in Melbourne’s Western and another in the Northern Suburbs. Work will be carried out in a precast yard meaning

Position Overview:
As a Precast Concreter, you will be a key member of our precast concrete team, responsible for the preparation, pouring, and finishing of concrete panels used in construction projects.
Your role will involve setting up molds, placing reinforcement materials, and ensuring that concrete is poured and finished to the highest standards of quality, strength, and durability. You will work closely with other team members to ensure that precast concrete products are produced efficiently and accurately, meeting all safety and design specifications. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to quality will be essential in delivering exceptional precast concrete elements for a wide range of construction applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare formwork or molds for precast concrete panels, ensuring they are clean, aligned, and ready for pouring.
- Place and secure reinforcement materials, such as steel bars or mesh, within the molds to ensure the strength and durability of the concrete panels.
- Pour concrete into molds, ensuring an even distribution and proper consolidation to avoid air pockets or voids.
- Smooth and finish the surface of the concrete panels, using tools such as trowels, floats, and vibrators to achieve the desired texture and quality.
- Inspect the concrete mix, placement, and finish to ensure it meets project specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
- Oversee the curing process to ensure the concrete reaches the required strength and durability before removal from the molds.
- Ensure all equipment, including mixers, vibrators, and tools, is properly maintained and operational.
- Work closely with other team members, including formwork carpenters and supervisors, to ensure that production schedules and quality standards are met.
- Follow safety procedures and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment by using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices.
- Identify and address any issues that may arise during the production process, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in concrete work, preferably in the precast concrete industry or related construction fields.
- Familiarity with the specific techniques and processes used in the production of precast concrete panels.
- Strong understanding of concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for concrete forms and structures.
- Knowledge of reinforcement placement, curing methods, and quality control procedures.
- Proficiency in operating concrete-related equipment, such as concrete mixers, vibrators, and trowels.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
- Comfortable with working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, often requiring manual labor and standing for extended periods.
- High level of precision and accuracy to ensure the quality of concrete pours, finishes, and reinforcement placement.
- Strong knowledge of construction site safety protocols and the ability to work safely with heavy machinery, tools, and hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with using personal protective equipment (PPE) and understanding safety standards in concrete work.
- Ability to work well in a team setting, coordinating with other concreters, formwork carpenters, and supervisors to ensure production goals and timelines are met.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues during the concrete pouring and finishing processes, proposing and implementing solutions as needed.
- Relevant certifications in construction safety, concrete work, or specific precast concrete processes can be beneficial.
Requirements To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria: ✅ Minimum 2 years of steel fixing experience in precast environments
✅ Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings
✅ Valid Construction Induction (White Card) – Mandatory
✅ Valid Driver's License and reliable transport – Mandatory
✅ Work rights in Australia – Must be unrestricted
✅ Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol Screening
✅ Physically fit and safety-focused
✅ Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
