Crestview Strategy Australia

Sydney

We are Crestview Strategy, a global public affairs firm with offices in Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and the Gulf. We help organisations navigate political and regulatory environments, engage with government, and position themselves for long-term success across sectors including energy, infrastructure, health, and technology.

We are seeking a Consultant to join our growing Australian team, working primarily across government relations, public affairs and policy, while also supporting clients on government grants and funding opportunities.

At Crestview, you will be part of a fast-paced, team-oriented team working with senior practitioners and clients on issues that sit at the intersection of politics, policy and commercial outcomes. You will have opportunities to work across a broad range of sectors, contribute to significant client engagements and gain exposure to Crestview's international network.

The Opportunity

You will support clients to understand political and policy developments, identify emerging risks and opportunities, develop strategies for engaging with government and communicate their priorities effectively to decision-makers.

The work is diverse. On any given week, you might be researching a policy issue, preparing a briefing for a senior client, mapping political stakeholders, monitoring parliamentary developments, helping develop a government engagement strategy or helping clients develop compelling grant applications that connect their commercial objectives with government policy priorities.

Responsibilities of Our Consultants

- Conduct political, policy and regulatory research and provide clear analysis for clients
- Monitor government, parliamentary and political developments and identify their implications for client organisations
- Support the development of government relations and public affairs strategies
- Prepare client briefings, stakeholder maps, meeting materials, correspondence and policy submissions
- Assist with stakeholder engagement involving ministers, advisers, departments, regulators, industry bodies and other decision-makers
- Translate complex policy and commercial issues into concise, compelling written materials
- Support the preparation of client reports,

political updates and strategic advice
- Contribute to business development, research and proposal development across the Australian practice
- Support government grants and funding work where appropriate, including researching funding programs, analysing guidelines and assisting with the drafting and refinement of applications
- Help position client projects and business cases in a way that aligns with relevant government policy and investment priorities
- Manage multiple workstreams and deadlines while maintaining consistently high-quality output

Our Ideal New Team Member

This role is suited to someone with a genuine interest in politics, policy, government and business, who is intellectually curious and enjoys understanding how decisions are made.

You might have worked in government, a ministerial or parliamentary office, a political organisation, a think tank, an industry association, consulting or another policy-related environment.

You might also be a lawyer who has decided not to practise and wants to apply strong analytical and writing skills in a more commercial and politically engaged environment, or a recent graduate looking to build a career in government relations and public affairs.

Previous experience is welcome but is not essential. We are more interested in finding someone who understands or wants to understand government, can analyse information quickly and can communicate clearly.

What matters most is attitude. We are looking for someone who is curious, proactive, commercially minded and willing to get stuck in.

You will bring

- Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely
- An interest in government, politics, policy and public affairs
