Cyber Security Intern
Location: Australia | Work Arrangement: Remote | Employment Type: Internship
Position Overview
We are recruiting a Cybersecurity Intern on behalf of our client to support initiatives focused on protecting digital systems, applications, networks, and information assets.
The successful candidate will gain practical experience in security monitoring, vulnerability management, risk assessment, and security operations while working closely with experienced technical and cybersecurity professionals.
Key Responsibilities
As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will help strengthen the organisation’s digital defences while gaining practical exposure to real-world security operations. Your responsibilities may include:
- Keeping a watchful eye on security alerts, events, and potential signs of compromise.
- Supporting vulnerability assessments and documenting identified security gaps.
- Tracking emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
- Assisting with security reviews, risk assessments, and threat analysis.
- Helping implement and improve cybersecurity controls, policies, and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate security reports, documentation, and incident records.
- Supporting access management and other information security processes.
- Promoting cybersecurity awareness and encouraging secure working practices.
- Working with technical teams to investigate, resolve, and document security concerns.
- Contributing to compliance activities and internal security requirements.
- Escalating suspected incidents and critical vulnerabilities in line with established procedures.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts and security principles.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, operating systems, authentication mechanisms, and access controls.
- Familiarity with common cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
- Basic understanding of security monitoring, vulnerability assessment, or incident response concepts.
- Robust analytical and investigative abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive technical information with professionalism and discretion.
- Eagerness to continuously expand knowledge of emerging cybersecurity technologies and threats.
