About the Opportunity
We are recruiting a Data Analytics Intern on behalf of one of our clients. This opportunity is ideal for students, recent graduates, and aspiring Data Analysts seeking to strengthen their analytical skills and gain practical experience addressing real-world business challenges.
The selected candidate will work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to the complete data analytics lifecycle, including data collection, preparation, analysis, visualisation, reporting, dashboard development, and insight generation.
This role will also provide an opportunity to transform raw data into clear, actionable recommendations that support informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
As a Data Analytics Intern, you will turn raw data into meaningful insights that support informed business decisions. Your responsibilities may include:
- Collecting, cleaning, transforming, and organising data from multiple sources.
- Exploring datasets to identify trends, patterns, relationships, correlations, and anomalies.
- Analysing business and operational data to generate actionable insights.
- Writing and optimising SQL queries for data retrieval, filtering, joining, aggregation, and analysis.
- Using Python and relevant libraries to manipulate, analyse, and automate data processes.
- Creating reports, dashboards, charts, and visualisations to communicate findings clearly.
- Developing, maintaining, and enhancing analytical dashboards and recurring reports.
- Monitoring data quality and supporting validation and cleansing activities.
- Tracking KPIs and business metrics to support performance evaluation and decision-making.
- Applying statistical techniques where required to address business objectives.
- Translating business questions into structured analytical requirements and solutions.
- Documenting methods, assumptions, findings, processes, and project outcomes.
- Collaborating with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and cross-functional teams.
- Presenting complex insights in a clear, concise, and business-focused manner.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and support business growth.
- Keeping up to date with developments in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Visualisation.
Technical Skills
Candidates should have familiarity with some of the following:
- SQL
- Python
- Pandas and NumPy
- Microsoft Excel
- Power BI and Tableau
- Data visualisation
- Exploratory Data Analysis
- Statistics
- Data cleaning and interpretation
- Jupyter Notebook
- Git and GitHub
Knowledge of advanced Excel, Power BI DAX, Tableau, cloud platforms, or Generative AI tools will be considered an advantage.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of fundamental data analytics concepts.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in SQL and/or Python.
- Familiarity with Excel and data manipulation.
- Understanding of statistics and analytical techniques.
- Basic knowledge of data visualization and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Valuable written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with a remote team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic or personal projects involving Data Analytics or Business Intelligence.
- Experience working with real-world datasets.
- Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience creating dashboards or analytical reports.
- Familiarity with SQL databases.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis.
- Experience with Excel-based data analysis.
- A portfolio, dashboard, GitHub repository, or project work demonstrating practical skills is an advantage.
