About the role
Beyond Barriers Care is seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team on a casual basis. This role is based in Wyndham Vale, VIC 3024 and offers you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to individuals, enabling them to live as independently as possible and participate fully in their communities.
This is a vital role that directly contributes to our mission of breaking down barriers and empowering people with disabilities to achieve their goals.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to clients with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities such as hygiene, grooming, dressing and meal preparation
- Support clients in accessing community activities, recreation and social engagement opportunities
- Assist clients with mobility and transport to appointments, activities and community events
- Help clients develop and maintain life skills, including budgeting, shopping and household management
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of client support, progress and any concerns or incidents
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and other team members to ensure consistent and coordinated care
- Promote client dignity, respect and independence in all interactions and support provided
- Follow all health and safety protocols, disability support standards and organisational policies
- Respond to the needs of clients with empathy and patience, adapting support to individual circumstances
Availabilty Required Fridays only for the start with 15 year old female
7:30 am - 9:30 am
2:40 pm -4:40 pm
6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Potential for multiple days depending on the feedback
What we're looking for
- A genuine commitment to supporting people with disabilities and promoting their independence and wellbeing
- Experience in disability support, aged care, community services or a related field (essential or desirable depending on level of experience)
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Physical capability to assist with mobility support and personal care tasks, as this role can be physically demanding
- Ability to work sensitively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and with varying support needs
- Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work flexibly within a casual framework
- Current Working with Children Check (WWC)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly to unexpected situations
- A current First Aid certificate is desirable
