We are seeking passionate, dedicated Mental Health Disability Support Workers to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with Mental Health challenges, offering them support, guidance, and the tools they need to thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to participants with mental health and psychosocial disabilities in their homes or within the community.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental environment for participants to express themselves and engage in activities that promote their mental and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with participants to create and implement individualised support plans that address their specific needs and goals.
- Assist participants in developing and maintaining life skills, such as daily living activities, budgeting, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
- Offer emotional support, active listening, and crisis intervention as needed to help participants navigate challenging situations.
- Encourage social engagement and community participation to reduce isolation and build a support network.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of participant progress and report any concerns or significant changes to the supervisor.
- Work closely with other members of the support team, including therapists, healthcare professionals, and family members, to ensure holistic care and support.
Qualifications:
- A genuine passion for helping individuals with mental health and psychosocial disabilities achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
- Previous experience in disability support, mental health, or related fields is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with participants.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Understanding of mental health issues, various therapeutic approaches, and psychosocial support principles.
- Commitment to maintaining participant confidentiality and privacy.
- A valid vehicle driver's license
- Own RWC vehicle with Full Comprehensive Insurance
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- A current police check is required before commencing work.
- An NDIS worker card
- A Working with Children Blue card
