blepoint Australia is urgently seeking experienced and reliable Disability Support Workers to support a male NDIS participant with tetraplegia and high physical support needs in his home in Maryland, NSW.
The participant values his independence, communicates verbally and actively directs his own care. Successful applicants must be confident following detailed instructions, listening carefully and providing support in a calm, respectful and person-centred manner.
Available Ongoing Shifts
- Morning: 6:30 am–9:30 am
- Evening: 7:15 pm–9:15 pm
- Immediate start available

Key Responsibilities
- Provide full assistance with personal care and daily routines
- Complete hoist transfers using the participant’s approved equipment
- Assist with transfers between the bed, commode and powered wheelchair
- Work collaboratively with a second support worker during all physical transfers
- Assist with repositioning, wheelchair alignment and pressure care
- Provide catheter and colostomy care
- Support safe positioning and rolling in bed
- Check the hoist, sling and other equipment before use
- Follow the participant’s manual-handling and transfer guidelines
- Listen to and follow the participant’s instructions and preferences
- Monitor the participant’s comfort, safety and wellbeing
- Maintain accurate progress notes and report any concerns
- Preserve the participant’s dignity, privacy, independence and choice
Important Manual-Handling Requirements The participant requires 2:1 physical support for all transfers. Workers must follow the approved transfer procedure and must not complete transfers independently. Successful applicants will be required to complete participant-specific, on-site training before performing transfers. Workers must be confident using a mobile hoist and sling and understand safe manual-handling techniques.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting a person with tetraplegia, quadriplegia,
spinal cord injury or comparable complex physical needs
- Demonstrated experience using mobile hoists, slings and transfer equipment
- Strong knowledge of protected manual-handling practices
- Experience with wheelchair support, positioning and pressure care
- Experience providing catheter and colostomy care
- Experience delivering full personal care
- Ability to work safely as part of a two-person support team
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and transfer procedures
- Strong spoken English and clear communication skills
- Ability to listen carefully and follow verbal instructions
- Calm, respectful, reliable and professional approach
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Completed NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Relevant disability or individual-support qualification
- Valid Australian driver’s licence
- Reliable vehicle and transportation
- Current police check and other required compliance documents
- Valid Australian working rights
About You You understand that quality complex care requires patience, consistency and attention to detail. You are comfortable receiving guidance directly from the participant and recognise the importance of informing him before completing each task.
You can work independently during general support activities while cooperating effectively with another worker for all transfers and other tasks requiring 2:1 physical support.
