Groomer Wanted

Mermaid Waters Vet Surgery is looking for an additional dog groomer! We are currently booked through until November! The clinic is open Monday–Saturday, so flexible schedule can be negotiated within these days.

Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as a dog groomer (all breed clips/styles), OR have recently completed a grooming course and be able to work autonomously.

If you're a vet nurse looking for some variety, we may be able to offer you a mix of nursing days and grooming days.

What you'll be doing as a groomer at Mermaid Vet

- Conduct consultations to understand owners' expectations, assess each dog, explain what can and can't be achieved, and tailor a plan that works for everyone.
- Provide grooming advice to help owners maintain their dog's coat between visits.
- Bathing, blow-drying, nail trims and style grooms (nurses handle anal gland expressions).
- Maintain cleaning standards in the grooming room.
- Let owners know when their dog is ready to be collected.

What we're looking for

- A groomer with a passionate, friendly disposition.
- Someone who handles animals with care and affection.
- A can-do attitude!
- Your own grooming equipment (hydrobath,



table and shampoo are supplied).
- Experience grooming all styles/breeds.
- A minimum of 6-8 dogs per day depending on size/style.

The position will initially be offered on a casual basis, with terms open for renegotiation after 6 months — whether that's moving toward your own business within our space (higher earning potential), staying on as a casual, or moving to permanent part-time.
