Emergency Services Officer (ESO)

Permanent Full-Time | BIBO | 8:6 Roster An opportunity is available for an experienced Emergency Services Officer (ESO) to support emergency preparedness, emergency response capability and medical readiness within a mining operation. The role will maintain emergency response systems, equipment and ERT capability while also supporting broader site safety, risk management and workforce engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Emergency Response: Respond to fire, rescue, hazardous materials, medical and environmental emergencies.
- Emergency Preparedness: Maintain emergency response equipment, vehicles, facilities, procedures and emergency management documentation.
- ERT Support: Assist with coordinating the Emergency Response Team, including training, competency management, drills and emergency exercises.
- Medical Response: Provide advanced first aid and emergency medical response, maintain first aid facilities and equipment, and support casualty management and medical evacuation planning.
- Fire & Rescue: Undertake firefighting, rescue and emergency response activities using specialist emergency response equipment.
- Training & Exercises: Deliver practical emergency response, rescue, firefighting and first aid training and participate in simulations and drills.
- Safety & Risk: Support risk assessments, workplace inspections, hazard identification, incident investigations and safety initiatives.
- Incident Response:



Provide leadership and technical support during emergency situations and assist with evacuations, rescues and recovery activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify improvements to emergency response systems, equipment, procedures and training.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with external emergency services, medical providers and relevant internal teams as required.

Essential Requirements:

- Certificate III Mine Emergency Response and Rescue
- Advanced First Aid qualification
- Certificate IV in Health Care
- Minimum 3 years' experience in emergency response, mine rescue, emergency services, industrial rescue, firefighting or a related field.
- Experience within mining, resources or heavy industry.
- Experience operating emergency response and rescue equipment.
- Solid understanding of emergency response, rescue operations, firefighting and medical response.
- Strong understanding of risk management and safety systems within an operational environment.
- Effective communication and incident coordination skills.

Desirable:

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
- Incident Management Team (IMT) training
- Experience facilitating emergency exercises and training programs.
- Experience working in remote mining environments.
- Experience supporting WHS systems and risk management programs.
